The Blue Butterfly summer camp is held in the historical fortress of St. Ivan in Šibenik. The old fortress was built in 1646, and today it provides accommodation, classrooms and organized educational spaces for our English summer camp.

EXPERIENCE HISTORY IN THE FORTRESS OF ST. IVAN

Fortress of St. Ivan it was built in 1646 in less than two months at the beginning of the Candian War according to the project of the Venetian military engineer Antonio

A year later, in 1647, there were heavy battles with the army of the Turkish pasha Tekelija, who wanted to occupy it in order to rule the city.

The fortress has a star-shaped ground plan, and on the northern side it is reinforced by a high brick embankment in the shape of a pincer (Italian: tanaglia), which is where the name Tanaja, which the people of Šibenik often

During the second half of the 17th century, the fortress was reshaped and strengthened several times.
