Learn the art of sailing in the crystal clear Adriatic!

The Blue Butterfly summer camp is held in Murter and in the historical fortress of St. John in Šibenik, which was built in 1646, and today it has been renovated into a wonderful modern accommodation that provides comfort and a special experience. Participants have halg board and full board and supervision by professional staff.

Murter – small northern Dalmatian island near Šibenik. The island is connected to the mainland by a short bridge in Tisno. Most of the island is covered with ancient olive and fig trees that are the main traditional crops grown by the locals. During the summer there are also numerous tourists. It is located in a good position in the Adriatic Sea and from here we can do tours along the coast.

Get to know Croatian coast – Dalmatia, and all of its beauty, history, stories and legends and try local cuisine on excursions that are included in price.

Theory and practice – basic sailing school

The basics sailing course is designed for anyone who’ve always, whether because of other people’s tales, or simply by watching “the lucky ones“, felt that the wind, the sails and the sea can provide unique satisfaction, a satisfaction that cannot be described by words, but needs to be experienced in person.

Object of the course: adapting to the wind, sea and life on the sailboat, learning the basic techniques of sailing and understanding the basics of nautical conduct at sea

Age:  13 + (under 18 with written permission from parents)

Prior knowledge: it is not necessary

Min. prerequisites: swimming skills and readiness for physical activities

Acquired skills: basics of steering, sail handling, participation in daily routine work on the boat

Sailing area: local waters of the island Murter

Equipment: rain jacket, rain trousers (winter time), sailing gloves (like the one for bike – no „fingers“), double shoes (sailing shoes or sneakers), T-shirts, shirts with long sleeves, short and long pants, sun protecting cream, cap, towels for the sea, swimsuit.

Basics of sailing – who is this course made for?

Basics of sailing is a course for beginners who have never sailed before and want to spend their vacation actively.

In 30 years of our existance and experience, we have gained the trust of thousands of participants who have been continuously sailing with us. Many of them come regularly every season. Some have become sailing instructors. And almost all of them adopted sailing as a lifestyle. Whether you are an individual who wants to learn sailing skills or a family who want to actively spend a holiday together, we’ll ensure that you want to come back.

Sailing for beginners

It’s easy to learn the basic theory from our handbook before sailing out.  The handbook is in Croatian and in English. After getting to know the theory, it’s time to sail out and apply your newly-learned skills. Our professional instructors will lead you through the learning process, while at the same time you are going to enjoy friendly environment, meet new people and have some fun. You will acquire new skills like basics of steering, sail handling, participation in daily routine work on the boat; sailed miles 120 NM (approx).

This sailing program is for all adults (aged 16 to 18 with parental written consent).

The only prerequisite is swimming skills. And readiness for physical activities, indeed!

What are you going to learn on this beginner sailing course?

You’ll start by learning the names of parts of the sailboat in English. You’ll learn the basic movement directions of the sailboat, how to set up the sails, where does each crew member exactly have to be and when. You’ll learn which sails there are and when to use them, trimming the sails according to the wind.

Sailing area & route

Local waters of the island Murter.
That means in the water of Oslands: Zlarin, Prvić, Kaprije, Žirje and the west side of Island of Murter toward Kornati Islands

Sailing route is subject to change depending on the current weather conditions, wind and the forecast.

EXCURSIONS:

Excursion: Šibenik and Sokolar Center, €65

Coming to the Cathedral of St. James, the attraction of the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2000., we’ll hear the amazing story of how it’s built. Center for falconry is settled in the pine forest, in the heart of Mediterranean wildlife, only 7 km from Šibenik. It’s a mustsee for all those who want to taste the touch of wilderness and adventure.

Izlet: NP Krka 65 €

Krka National Park lies within Šibenik-Knin County and covers a total area of 109 km² of the loveliest sections of the Krka River, and the lower course of the Čikola River. The most frequently visited areas in of Krka National Park are Skradinski buk and Roški slap. Skradinski buk is one of Croatia’s best known natural features, made up of travertine cascades, islands and lakes.

Izlet: Zadar i Nin 65 €

Nin is the oldest Croatian royal town and is full of remains from the Romans time. In Zadar, we will make a sightseeing tour with a local guide. One of the most famous landmarks, next to the church of St. Donat and Kalelarga street, is Greeting to the Sun, and Sea organ, two modern installations that connect people with nature. We’ll visit interesting Museum of illusion

Izlet: Split i Trogir 70 €

The historical center of Trogir is on the UNESCO world heritage list since 1997. We’ll meet with a local guide and make a tour
through narrow streets to see the most important monuments and buildings. We’ll continue our excursion to the amazing city of Split. We will enter the historical center of the city, located in Diocletian’s palace
from Roman times, and which is also on the UNESCO list since 1979.
